Dynamics 365 Business Central &
Microsoft Dynamics NAV -
Differences

  • Approach: Where Microsoft Dynamics NAV primarily focuses on the stakeholders within the business, its modern counterpart Dynamics 365 Business Central takens a more outward approach by engaging not only with stakeholders within but also those external to the business.
  • Deployment: With Microsoft Dynamics NAV there is limited flexibility as the license has to be purchased by all users. However, it can be hosted on-premises or even on the cloud. Dynamics 365 Business Central software on the other hand is hosted on Microsoft Azure servers, which limits storage problems.
  • Customization: Microsoft Dynamics NAV is highly customizable. The application can be customized based on your specific needs by going into the source code. With Dynamics 365 Business Central, this is not possible and you have to rely on apps available on AppSource (a store that hosts applications developed by Dynamics partners and ISVs).
